The problem

Building from abroad usually fails one of three ways

Most diaspora Nigerians we speak to have already tried one of these — or watched a sibling try — and paid for it in money, in family peace, or in both.

  • The family supervisor

Cheap and familiar. Ends in disputes over money and a family relationship that never recovers.

  • The WhatsApp contractor

Fast to hire, no accountability, no paper trail. Funds disappear and there is no recourse.

  • The large estate developer

Trusted, but only sells finished units — no custom builds on your own land, to your own brief.

How we make distance safe

Six mechanisms, not six promises

Everything on this list is something you can verify while the build is happening. That is the difference between a trust story and a marketing story.

  • 01

    Weekly photo report, every Friday

Eight fixed camera angles across the site, sent every Friday morning. Week to week you can see progress by scrolling — no hunting for last week's photo.

  • 02

Monthly drone flyover, on the 1st

An aerial shot every 30 days. Catches things ground photography misses, and doubles as content you can share with family.

  • 03

Every receipt uploaded within 48 hours

Vendor, quantity, cost — attached to the project folder as they happen. The 'you inflated the materials price' conversation cannot form.

  • 04

    Access Bank escrow, milestone-triggered

Your funds sit in your name at Access Bank. Money only moves to Kulaptech when a milestone certificate is signed. Bank statements available at every drawdown.

  • 05

    Client portal, per project

One URL per build. Current milestone, next milestone, budget spent vs remaining, photo archive, receipt archive, next scheduled inspection.

  • 06

    ARCON-registered architect on every drawing

Olawunmi Agbaje personally signs every design. 21 years of professional practice, all on public record.

Milestone payments

Eight releases, each one earned

Kulaptech never asks for the full project sum upfront. Payment is broken into eight milestones, and each one only releases after the work is inspected and signed off. Any builder who insists on 100% upfront is a red flag — we walk away from those clients too.

Common questions

What every diaspora client asks first

How do I know my money is safe?

Every diaspora contract runs on milestone drawdowns through an Access Bank escrow account opened in your name. Funds only release to Kulaptech when a milestone certificate is signed off. We do not accept 100% upfront on any contract — the whole model depends on that.

How do I actually see the work while I am abroad?

Every Friday morning you get a photo report from eight fixed angles across your site, plus a short walkthrough video. On the 1st of every month you get drone footage. Between reports, you log into your client portal any time and see the current milestone, the budget spent vs remaining, and every material receipt. Premium tier adds live 24/7 camera access.

Who is actually on the site making decisions?

A resident engineer on every project, backed by a multi-disciplinary team of eleven professionals — architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, land surveyor, electrical engineer — with 180+ years of combined experience. Every drawing is signed by Olawunmi Agbaje, our ARCON-registered Principal Architect.

Can I pay in dollars or pounds?

Yes. Every diaspora contract is quoted in your currency of choice — NGN, USD or GBP — with conversion at each milestone payment. This protects you against naira devaluation across the life of the build.

How long does a build take?

A typical custom home takes 12–18 months from mobilisation to handover, depending on scope and finish level. The programme is written and dated before we mobilise, and you get a written progress report against it every week — so any slip surfaces the moment it happens, not at the end.
